May 20 -Attention all Knitters and Crotcheters! We are continuing our project of making scarves for gifts at Christmas that have gone in the past to Anchor House (residential drug rehab facility for men and women), The Children's Home, UM Nursing Homes and STEP (for incarcerated women). Thanks to those who do so much work and we would like to invite others to be a part of the activity. On May 20 after church we will meet to share our work (bring in scarves you have made) and share ideas. We will have a small display so members can see what is being done "hands on" and a bit about the programs. If you are interested in making scarves, the only requirement is to make the size approximately 6 - 8 inches wide and 50 inches long. All the recipients appreciate them and we have received notes of thanks. I wanted to tell all of you about an important service that we are bringing to Memorial United Methodist Church on 6/15/2012. According to the National Stroke Association, approximately 97% of Americans cannot recognize the signs of stroke and that is why we have decided to bring Life Line Screening, a leading mobile health screening service, into our organization to offer life-saving ultrasound screenings.
Most people don’t realize that these tests are not typically offered during a regular physical, as they are not usually covered by insurance. Please consider taking part in these life-saving screenings.
We are happy to announce that Life Line Screening is working with us to provide our members $10 additional discounts off of a screening package in addition to a $10 donation to Memorial United Methodist Church. If you or someone you know would like to sign up, please place your name, the tests you would like and your phone number on the sign-up sheet in the Narthex or call the Church office at 914 949-2146.
