February 14 – it’s a double! -
PRE-EVENT at 4:30 1st gathering of the 2nd Tuesday Needlework Group - Starting on Tuesday, Feb. 14, meet us at 4:30 at Dorry's. Come to learn, bring work as you please, help, teach and chat before the program of the evening. We might adopt charitable projects at times, or recommend them, when we meet. It's a work in progress like many of our projects.
All welcome, even if you don't knit, crochet, quilt, needlepoint or weave.
MAIN EVENT at 5:30, with talk at 6:00 - Kendell Storm - The Homeschooling experience The Storm family decided to homeschool their two sons for two very different reasons. The Storm boys have gone on to higher education. The older son, Ryan, attended Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, KY on a double bicycle racing scholarship and graduated with honors in 2011. He was awarded the prestigious “Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities” in both 2010 and 2011. He is now attending graduate school at Western Kentucky University and was just named the General Manager of The Bike Peddler chain of bike stores in Nashville, TN. The younger son, Jeremy, is now attending SUNY Maritime in Bronx, NY and is in the NROTC program. He is set to graduate in 2014. Kendell will discuss: The process of making the decision to homeschool, the transition from “traditional” schooling to homeschooling, the legalities of homeschooling in New York State, the different resources available to homeschoolers, and several different methods of homeschooling for the different ages and stages of development. If his schedule allows, we may be able to have Jeremy visit with us on this evening to answer some questions.
